Outstanding international cooperation activities of the University of Ha Long in October 2023

On the morning of October 31, 2023, Ha Long University welcomed a delegation of experts from the University of Agriculture and Forestry – Hue University and the University of the Ryukyus – Japan to visit and work at the University.

Participating in the working session on the part of the Delegation of the University of Agriculture and Forestry and the University of the Ryukyus were Prof. Dr. Akihiro Takemura, Vice Rector of the University of the Ryukyus, Japan; Associate Professor, PhD. Kenji Taima, Osaka University, Japan; Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Phuoc, lecturer at the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University.

The working program

On the side of Ha Long University, there was Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Giang – Vice Principal of the School; Representatives of leaders of the Department of International Cooperation and Scientific Management, Center for Science, Technology and Personnel Training; Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Fisheries.

At the meeting, Ha Long University and the expert delegation from University of Agriculture and Forestry – Hue University and University of the Ryukyus – Japan discussed implementing research topics at Ha Long University and Quang Ninh province: (1) Develop marine life production technology by minimizing waste and land-based aquaculture systems; (2) Developing material circulation technology to integrate agriculture and aquaculture; (3) Power supply using 100% renewable energy; (4) Developing smart aquaculture on land using information technology. In addition, cooperation in student training exchanges will be promoted. Students of the Faculty of Fisheries can be sent to Japan for project training and receive scholarship funding from the Japanese government.

On the afternoon of October 29, 2023, Mr. Tsutomu Takebe (Special Advisor to Japan – Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and of Ha Long University) and the working delegation had a visit and worked at Ha Long University.

Welcoming the delegates, on the side of Ha Long University, there were Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep – Rector of the University of Ha Long, and representatives of the following units: Department of International Cooperation and Scientific Management, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Japanese Language Department, and the center for practicing tourism services and the arts.

Mr. Takebe gave a souvenir to the University.

The working program focused on discussing and unifying the program of the Launching Ceremony of the Japanese Language and Culture Center under the Faculty of Foreign Languages. It is expected that the ceremony will take place at 9:00 a.m. on November 18, 2023, at the Central Lecture Hall, the University of Ha Long. Attending the program will be the representatives of Quang Ninh province leaders; the Representative of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu – Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance; the university’s leaders, representatives from offices and centers, lecturers and students of the Japanese Departments at Ha Long University; and a large number of guests from Japanese businesses, universities, and research institutes.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep – Rector of the University of Ha Long– introduced the Japanese cultural space on the 16th floor of the Central Lecture Hall to the delegation.

On the morning of October 25, 2023, representatives of Dai Phuc Investment and Trading JSC and AASuccess Foundation (USA) visited and worked at Ha Long University.

Participating in the meeting were representative of Dai Phuc Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company – Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, Deputy General Director; Representatives of AASuccess Fund – Mr. Nguyen Dave Trong, Director of AASuccess Fund; and Mr. Thomas George Forsberg, Vice President of Healing Hearts in Vietnam, Senior Advisor of AASuccess Group.

Welcoming the delegation from Ha Long University were Mr. Nguyen Duc Tiep – Rector of the University of Ha Long, representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and Scientific Management, Academic affairs Office, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Faculty of Tourism.

The meeting focused on implementing international training cooperation programs at Ha Long University and building new training majors suitable to the University’s resources to meet the demands of the economic development of Quang Ninh province.

On the morning of October 18, 2023, Ha Long University held a farewell ceremony for Japanese language volunteer – Ms. Kanda – from the JICA Organization finishing her working term at Ha Long University.

Attending the program were Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Principal of the University, Representative of the Department of International Cooperation and Scientific Management, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Japanese language Department, along with lectures and Japanese-majored students.

Ms. Kanda is a Japanese volunteer recommended by Jica organization for a two-year term, from October 2021 to October 2023. Her colleagues and Japanese-majored students highly appreciate her enthusiasm and friendliness towards students in teaching and other cultural exchange activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Phan Thi Hue highly appreciated the Ms. Kanda’s contribution not only in teaching Japanese but also in actively participating in the activities of the Japanese Club, supporting students to learn Japanese culture, and congratulated her on completing her two-year term.

On this occasion, Ms. Kanda expressed her feelings about Ha Long University with many beautiful memories, the warmth and friendliness of the lectures and students, and the studiousness of Japanese-majored students along with unforgettable impressions of the land and people of Quang Ninh with unique cultural features, such as Yen Tu relics and Ha Long Bay.

Reporter from Sentonaikai Television (Japan) reports on volunteer activities of Jica organization at Ha Long University.

On October 19 and 20, 2023, reporter Nakamura Yasuto (Japanese nationality, HC number: TS1743860) of Sentonaikai Television (Japan) came to Ha Long University to report on the activities of Japanese Overseas Cooperation Program in Vietnam (JOCV).

The report focuses on some content about Ms. Kanda’s teaching and cultural exchange activities, a Japanese volunteer of the Jica organization during the 2021-2023 working term at the University of Ha Long. It also recorded images of the teaching and learning of lecturers and students of the Japanese Department, along with beautiful scenes of the University on the banks of the world’s natural heritage Ha Long Bay.

On the morning of October 6, 2023, Representatives of the Trade and Investment Agency, Australian Embassy in Vietnam visited and worked at Ha Long University.

           Attending the meeting were Mr. Morley Christopher James – Trade and Investment Counselor, Australian Embassy in Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien – Director of Education of the Australian Government Trade and Investment Agency in Viet Nam. On the side of Ha Long University, there were Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Principal of the University, along with representatives of Department of International Cooperation and Scientific Management, Academic affairs Office and Faculty of Foreign Languages.

At the meeting, Ha Long University and the Counselor of the Australian Embassy discussed potential cooperation contents between the University and Australian partners, including student exchange programs, summer camps for students, inviting Australian lecturers, short-term training courses for Ha Long University lecturers, training cooperation in tourism, languages, and logistics, etc. It is expected that the meeting will open Australian educational projects at Ha Long University in the near future.

On the morning of October 5, 2023, Ha Long University welcomed Mr. Takebe Tsutomu – Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and the Delegation to visit and work at the university.

At the meeting, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and the University’s leaders discussed promoting the project to establish a Japanese Language and Culture Center at Ha Long University, coordinating to organize a Japanese tourism promotion event – Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long expected to be held in November 2023, and deploying cooperation contents according to the MOU between Ha Long University and TOA Soken Organization.

Hopefully, with the help from Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and his colleagues, Ha Long University will soon become a top-quality Japanese language training center in the North, enhancing university’s training fields in culture, tourism, and foreign languages, and at the same time fulfill the task of training the high-quality workforce for the province and the whole country.
