Hightlights on the intenational cooperation activities of Halong University November 2023

Ha Long University inaugurated the Center for Japanese Culture and Language

On the morning of November 18, 2023, Ha Long University inaugurated the Center for Japanese Culture and Language. This event is part of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan on September 21 (1973-2023) and the series of the Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long in 2023. Attending the ceremony were Comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and delegates from Japan.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and the delegates conducted the inauguration ceremony of the Center for Japanese Culture and Language at Ha Long University.

The Center for Japanese Culture and Language at Ha Long University is comprised of 5 classrooms, 1 administrative office, and 1 Japanese cultural space. The inauguration of the Center is not only a significant step-forward in the educational and training development of Ha Long University but also represents a meaningful milestone, opening opportunities for educational and training collaboration between Vietnam and Japan.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, along with the delegates, visited the Japanese Language Department classrooms to observe the students’ lessons at Ha Long University.

After the inauguration of the Center, in the coming period, Ha Long University will organize various distinctive and diverse cultural exchange programs between Vietnam and Japan. The university will offer Japanese language training programs and effective courses on skills for working within Japanese corporate organizations. Additionally, efforts will be made to promote and facilitate internship programs, study abroad opportunities, and employment in Japan for students of the university and those with an interest in these opportunities.

Ha Long University is a public educational institution under the administration of Quang Ninh province. Currently, the university offers 17 undergraduate programs, with the Japanese Language program being one of the key and specialized programs. This program plays a crucial role in fulfilling the mission of training high-quality human resources proficient in the Japanese language to meet the needs of Quang Ninh province, neighboring provinces, and Japanese companies and enterprises. The university has established collaborative relationships with Japanese universities such as Asahikawa University, Kitami Institute of Technology, Osaka University, and others.

On this occasion, the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance donated over 350 million VND to support the welfare agriculture program at Ha Long University.

Professor Katsuaki Komai from Kitami Insitute of Technology (Japan) visits Ha Long University

From November 16 to 24, 2023, Professor Katsuaki Komai from Kitami Insitute of Technology in Japan visited Ha Long University to discuss potential collaborative research topics:

  1. Carbon capture;
  2. Production of biofuels/biomaterials from agricultural waste.

Professor Katsuaki Komai’s work program provides an opportunity for the Faculty of Environment at the university to enhance their knowledge, engage in academic exchange, and develop joint research projects with lecturers from Japan’s advanced education and research system. The research results will contribute to environmental protection in Quang Ninh Province.

Ha Long University and Asahikawa City University (Japan) signed a cooperation agreement

On the afternoon of November 16, 2023, in Ha Long City, a seminar program was held between Quang Ninh province (Viet Nam) and Hokkaido province (Japan).

On this occasion, Ha Long University and Asahikawa University signed a cooperation agreement to promote and develop collaborative efforts in educaiton and scientific research, focusing on five key areas: student and lecturer exchange, academic and cultural exchange, collaboration on scientific research projects, exchange of academic materials and scientific journals..

The signing ceremony is part of the events in the Hokkaido Festival 2023 series, aiming to commemorate the 50th anniversary of  the establíhment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

The VIKO GLOBAL Corporation Joint Stock Company visited and worked at Ha Long University.

On the morning of November 6, 2023, The VIKO GLOBAL Corporation Joint Stock Company visited and worked at Ha Long University. Attending the working session, the delegation from VIKO GLOBAL Corporation Joint Stock Company included Mr. Jang Don Hee (Director of the Vietnam-Korea Center for Foreign Affairs, Hanoi University of Industry), Mr. Son Jong Tea (Director of Vietnam-Korea Cooperation, Vikogo), Mr. Vu Tuan Anh (Chairman of Vikogo), and Mr. Do Anh Tai (General Director of Vikogo). Representing Ha Long University were Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep (Rector), Dr. Phan Thi Hue (Vice Rector), Associate Professor/PhD. Pham Quy Giang (Head of the International Cooperation and Scientific Management Department), along with representatives from the Department of Training, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and the Korean Language Department.

The working program

VIKOGO will support Ha Long University in student exchange programs and collaborate in organizing educational conferences with universities in South Korea. In return, Ha Long University will assist VIKOGO Corporation in implementing recruitment programs for international students and skilled labor in South Korea, with the goal of establishing a VIKOGO center at Ha Long University. The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the university and the company.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep (Rector of Ha Long University) and Mr. Do Anh Tai (CEO of VIKOGO Corporation Joint Stock Company) representing their respective institutions, signed a cooperation agreement.

The collaboration will bring opportunities for academic and cultural exchanges between Ha Long University and universities as well as partners from South Korea.
