Graduates of the Japanese Language program can work as foreign affairs assistants, office secretaries, translators, tour guides, etc., at foreign companies, joint ventures, or Vietnamese companies, foreign affairs departments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, media agencies such as radio and television, press agencies, publishing houses, etc. Graduates can also choose to research Japan at research centers or teach Japanese at institutions offering Japanese language courses (currently, there are about 500 institutions in Vietnam teaching Japanese from elementary to university level).
Currently, many organizations in Vietnam are seeking to recruit Japanese-speaking personnel, and Quang Ninh Province is implementing projects to promote Japanese companies to invest in Quang Ninh. Many organizations have collaborated with the university to accept students from the Japanese Language program for paid internships and official recruitment after graduation.
The specialized courses are diverse and practical. In addition to practical Japanese language skills, courses include translation, language theory, culture, and Japan studies. Students also learn subjects closely related to real job demands, such as Business Japanese, Tourism Japanese, and Japanese for Education. Starting from no prior knowledge of Japanese in high school, after graduation, students from the Japanese Language program at Ha Long University can use Japanese proficiently in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing (achieving level 5 according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework used in Vietnam or equivalent), have the ability to translate between Vietnamese and Japanese, possess basic knowledge of Japanese language theory, culture, and people, and can communicate in English at level B1. This foundation enables students to continue learning, improving, and advancing their skills to reach new heights.
By studying the Japanese Language at Ha Long University, students have the opportunity to learn and research under the guidance of dedicated and highly skilled instructors from Ha Long University, as well as experts, instructors, and volunteers from Japan, and many invited specialists from major universities such as the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hanoi University.
In addition to classroom learning activities, students also have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities to develop soft skills, such as youth union activities and student club activities (UHL Japanese Club).
The Japanese Language Program at Ha Long University also offers many other attractive advantages worth considering. During their undergraduate studies, students will learn a second foreign language – English, according to the university's enhanced English training program, aimed at helping undergraduate students achieve superior English proficiency, providing an additional advantage in recruitment. Students will also benefit from the largest scholarship policy in the country offered by Quang Ninh Province and Ha Long University.
