On May 19, 2025, Ha Long University held a welcome program for the newly-received volunteer from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who will be working at the university until April 2027.

The welcome event was attended by the Vice Rector of the University and leaders of the Office of International Cooperation and Science Management, the Pedagogical Practice Kindergarten, the Faculty of Education, and the Department of Japanese Language. From JICA, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngu, Officer of the JICA Volunteer Program, was also present.

Delivering a speech at the event, Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Rector of Ha Long University – warmly welcomed and expressed sincere gratitude to JICA and volunteer Ms. Kato Tonami. She emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening the cooperation between Ha Long University and JICA, noting its valuable contribution to the university’s educational and training activities. This collaboration also offers opportunities for lecturers and students to enhance their knowledge of the Japanese language and culture, thereby deepening the Vietnam–Japan friendship.

During her tenure at the university, Ms. Kato Tonami will teach early childhood education and provide professional support at the Pedagogical Practice Kindergarten, Faculty of Education.
