On the evening of May 25, 2026, at Ho Guom Opera House in Hanoi, at the invitation of H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, Ha Long University attended a special concert commemorating the 108th Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan (May 28, 1918 – May 28, 2026) and the first anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam – Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership.
The delegation from Ha Long University was led by Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep, Rector of Ha Long University, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quy Giang, Head of the Office of International Cooperation and Science Management, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Vien, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism.

The Ha Long University delegation took commemorative photos with H.E. Mr. Shovgi Mehdizada, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, before the concert program.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, diplomatic missions, international organizations, businesses, cultural experts, and numerous guests from both Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the upgrading of Vietnam – Azerbaijan relations to a Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Azerbaijan in May 2025 had opened a new phase of more substantive and effective cooperation across various fields. H.E. Mr. Shovgi Mehdizada, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, also affirmed that the friendship between the two countries is developing strongly, with numerous opportunities for cooperation in education, culture, tourism, energy, and people-to-people exchange.

The artistic program highlighted the cultural exchange between Vietnam and Azerbaijan through outstanding performances by artists from both countries. In particular, the song “Noi Vong Tay Lon” (“Joining Hands in Unity”) by renowned Vietnamese composer Trinh Cong Son resonated throughout the venue as a symbol of international peace, solidarity, and the aspiration for harmony among nations that have experienced war and loss.
The Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan solemnly participated in the flag salute ceremony opening the program.
Participation in the event further demonstrated Ha Long University’s strong commitment to international cooperation, cultural exchange, and connections with partners from Azerbaijan as well as Central Asian and Halal countries.

At the event, Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep, Rector of Ha Long University, presented Quang Ninh’s specialty golden camellia tea to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, symbolizing friendship and cultural connection between Vietnam and Azerbaijan.
In recent years, Ha Long University has actively engaged in cooperative and exchange activities with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam. The University previously welcomed and worked with H.E. Mr. Shovgi Mehdizada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, and has coordinated various cultural exchange programs promoting cooperation in education, tourism, and Halal tourism development in Quang Ninh Province.
Notably, the “Azerbaijan Culinary Festival at Ha Long University,” held on November 26, 2025, attracted the participation of many ambassadors and leaders of Quang Ninh provincial authorities, creating significant impact and leaving a remarkable impression on Vietnam – Azerbaijan cultural cooperation in particular and Middle Eastern cultural exchange in general. The event contributed to enhancing cultural understanding, expanding international cooperation opportunities, and promoting the image of Ha Long University to international partners.
Through international cooperation and exchange activities, Ha Long University continues to affirm its role as a dynamic higher education institution actively integrating into the global community and contributing to strengthening cultural and educational connections between Vietnam and countries around the world.
