On May 31, Ha Long University Co-organizes International Conference on “Developing Quang Ninh into One of Vietnam’s Leading Muslim-Friendly Tourist Destinations”

Ha Long University, in collaboration with the Institute for South Asian, West Asian and African Studies under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, organized the international conference titled: “Developing Quang Ninh into One of Vietnam’s Leading Muslim-Friendly Tourist Destinations.”

The event gathered the participation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, and over 200 delegates from both domestic and international organizations. Attendees included ambassadors of Muslim countries to Vietnam, international organizations, experts, scholars, and businesses from various fields related to Halal.

During the seminar, experts presented insightful perspectives and pointed out key issues in building and developing Muslim-friendly tourism in Quang Ninh. Topics included: Understanding the Muslim tourism market; Defining and meeting Halal standards; Enhancing human resource capabilities to serve this niche market; Assessing the current state and future potential of Halal tourism in Quang Ninh.

As part of the conference, a cooperation agreement was signed between Ha Long University and Halal Raja Vietnam Training Co., Ltd. to improve training quality, consultation, and Halal certification in Quang Ninh.

May 23 2025, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre visits and engages with students of Ha Long University

On the afternoon of May 23, 2025, Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, had a meeting and interactive discussion with students of Ha Long University.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo shared with lecturers and students the role of cultural heritage in socio-economic development, as well as experiences and solutions for the preservation and promotion of the world heritage values of Vietnam and Quang Ninh in particular. He especially emphasized the role of the younger generation in spreading heritage values, describing them as a “crucial factor” in the survival of heritage. Young people, specifically Ha Long University students, should develop a deep awareness of their responsibility toward Ha Long Bay – a World Natural Heritage site – through activities such as promoting and raising awareness of heritage values, participating in environmental protection initiatives, and proposing innovative ideas.

During the open dialogue, students also expressed their interest in heritage-related issues, such as UNESCO’s evaluation of the conservation efforts at Ha Long Bay and recommendations for the local community to continue safeguarding and promoting its heritage values, as well as the nomination process of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex for recognition as a World Heritage Site.

The visit by Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo opens up opportunities to promote international cooperation programs in education, heritage conservation, sustainable tourism development, and cultural exchange between Ha Long University and UNESCO-affiliated organizations.

On May 22, Ha Long University Welcomes Delegation from Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Ha Long University welcomed a delegation from Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) Vietnam Co., Ltd. for a visit and working session to discuss internship and post-graduation recruitment opportunities.

Representing USI Vietnam were Mr. Hu Haibo – Human Resources Director (head of the delegation), Mr. Wang Yanjun – Head of Training/Recruitment, along with two other members. From Ha Long University, the session was attended by Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep (Rector); Dr. Phan Thi Hue (Vice Rector); and representatives from Office of International Cooperation and Science Management, Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Office of Political education and Pupil and Student Affairs.

During the meeting, USI Vietnam representatives proposed various practical forms of cooperation, including: Internship recruitment - Offering students the chance to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment during their studies and Post-graduation recruitment - Ppening career paths for new graduates.

On May 19, 2025, Ha Long University held a welcome program for the newly-received volunteer from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who will be working at the university until April 2027.

The welcome event was attended by the Vice Rector of the University and leaders of the Office of International Cooperation and Science Management, the Pedagogical Practice Kindergarten, the Faculty of Education, and the Department of Japanese Language. From JICA, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngu, Officer of the JICA Volunteer Program, was also present.

Delivering a speech at the event, Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Rector of Ha Long University – warmly welcomed and expressed sincere gratitude to JICA and volunteer Ms. Kato Tonami. She emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening the cooperation between Ha Long University and JICA, noting its valuable contribution to the university’s educational and training activities. This collaboration also offers opportunities for lecturers and students to enhance their knowledge of the Japanese language and culture, thereby deepening the Vietnam–Japan friendship. 

During her tenure at the university, Ms. Kato Tonami will teach early childhood education and provide professional support at the Pedagogical Practice Kindergarten, Faculty of Education.

May 15, Ha Long University holds online meeting with Mr. Takebe Tsutomu on the development of the Japanese Language and Culture Center

On the morning of May 15, 2025, Ha Long University held an online meeting with Mr. Takebe Tsutomu – Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and Special Advisor to Ha Long University – to discuss the development direction of the Japanese Language and Culture Center at Ha Long University.

Attending the meeting, from Ha Long University there were the presence of Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep – Rector of Ha Long University, Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Rector, leaders of the Department of International Cooperation and Science Management, representatives of the Japanese Language Department (Faculty of Foreign Languages), and representatives of the Information and Library Center. The meeting took place in an open and productive atmosphere, reflecting the strong mutual interest in enhancing educational and cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Speaking at the meeting, the Rector of Ha Long University emphasized that the Center for Japanese Language and Culture is one of the university's key initiatives in its education internationalization strategy, contributing to improving students’ language skills, cultural understanding, and international employment opportunities.

At the working session, both sides discussed specific plans to enhance the effectiveness and elevate the status of the Center for Japanese Language and Culture. These plans include organizing high-quality Japanese language capacity-building programs with certification, developing cultural exchange activities, and connecting students with scholarship and internship opportunities in Japan. Mr. Takebe Tsutomu expressed strong support for the university’s initiatives and pledged to continue serving as a bridge in linking Ha Long University with Japanese educational institutions, businesses, and local communities.
