The year 2024 marks the proud 10-year journey of Ha Long University’s establishment and development, solidifying its brand and making it into the top 100 best universities in Vietnam. This significant milestone reaffirms the university’s quality reputation and robust growth as a developing institution.

1. Celebrating 65 Years of Tradition, 10 Years of Establishment, and Receiving the First-Class Labor Medal

This special event stands as a testament to the relentless efforts of the university’s staff, faculty, and students over the years. Alongside the celebration was a series of meaningful activities reflecting on the 10-year journey of building and developing Ha Long University. These achievements have strengthened the university’s reputation in its mission to train quality human resources, conduct practical research, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh Province and the nation.

2. Strengthening Organizational Structure and Faculty Development

In April 2024, the Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee issued a decision to establish the Primary, Secondary, and High School of Pedagogical Practice under Ha Long University. Additionally, the university established the Economics Department and appointed an associate professor. In 2024, 10 faculty members were sent to pursue doctoral studies, contributing to the improvement of the university’s human resource quality.

3. Breakthroughs in Party Membership Development and the “Four Good Party Cells” Model

The Party Committee of Ha Long University consistently demonstrated unity in thought and action, effectively leading professional and political tasks. In 2024, the Party Committee achieved breakthroughs in developing new Party members, admitting 67 members, including 62 students, exceeding the set target by 40%. The university successfully implemented the “Four Good Party Cells” and “Four Good Grassroots Party Committee” models in a systematic and high-quality manner.

4. Success in Program Expansion, Admissions, Training, and Development

In 2024, Ha Long University launched five new undergraduate programs, increasing the total to 22 undergraduate programs for the 2024-2025 academic year. The university exceeded its admissions target with over 2,800 new students of higher quality. The training scale expanded significantly, serving over 9,000 learners, while nearly 18,000 individuals participated in professional development programs, affirming the university’s growing training capacity.

5. Graduation Ceremony with Impressive Impact and Strong Employer Connections

The university hosted a grand graduation ceremony for nearly 1,000 students at the Quang Ninh Exhibition and Fair Center. The event was highly professional and left a lasting impression on students, parents, and the community. Additionally, the university maintained its annual cooperation forum between schools and employers and organized a career fair with hundreds of businesses, reaffirming the quality of its graduates and attracting attention from employers.

6. Significant Progress in Science, Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship

The Ha Long University Scientific Journal was included in the State Professor Council’s scoring list for four disciplines: Economics, Tourism, Culture - Arts, and Literature. The university successfully registered four provincial-level scientific tasks, hosted one international conference and two national conferences with leading scientists, and published over 200 articles in reputable national and international journals. Four faculty members were honoured as “Outstanding Intellectuals in Science and Technology” in Quang Ninh Province.

Additionally, the university established the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, launched the “Co-working Space” entrepreneurship hub, and created eight student entrepreneurship groups. Three projects won awards at the 7th Quang Ninh Province Creative Startup Competition, while two student research projects were recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

7. Strengthening Reputation and Position in International Cooperation

In 2024, the university signed 10 agreements with domestic and international partners, welcomed and trained international students, and sent 26 students to Japan, South Korea, and Germany for exchange programs. The university continued implementing three international projects successfully and served as the national coordinator of the VIETMUS project in Vietnam. It also played a key role in major international events, such as a dialogue with over 10 Japanese universities and an Erasmus+ conference organized by the European Union.

8. Transformative Media Activities

The Communications and Public Relations Department and the HALOU Ambassador Club were established, operating professionally and effectively. Various media initiatives were implemented through diverse public channels, resulting in thousands of news articles and promotional products. These efforts enhanced Ha Long University’s image among students, society, and both domestic and international partners.

9. Successful Organization of the University Youth Union Congress and Vibrant Student Activities

Under the motto “Aspiration - Bravery - Unity - Intelligence - Development,” the congress elected 15 qualified and capable individuals to the new Executive Committee. The Youth Union also organized major events, such as a camping festival celebrating the university’s 10th anniversary and a grand concert for freshmen. It held 72 cultural, artistic, sports, and academic competitions and forums, engaging many students. The Youth Union received commendations from the Central Youth Union, Provincial Youth Union, and other organizations for its achievements.

10. Improved Material and Spiritual Well-Being for Staff

The year 2024 marked significant improvements in the material and spiritual well-being of faculty and staff. The university’s Labor Union organized cultural, artistic, and sports activities to foster team spirit and energy beyond work.
